Camera wise it’s a 8.6K Full Frame sensor; with E Mount ( PL Adaptor Supplied ) it is a back lit stacked sensor combining the super sensitivity of a back lit sensor and the high speed data transfer of a stacked sensor. Stacked sensors at their high offload speed also negate rolling shutter. At first glance this looks like the Venice 2 8K sensor but the Burano has Phase Detection Auto Focus, much like the FX6 and FX9. Obviously to use this function the camera must be combined with suitable lenses, primarily the Sony G Master Range. The camera has dual base ISO’s, 800 and 3200. With maximum frame rates of 30P @ 8K, 60P @ 6K and 120P @ 4K the Burano ticks all the boxes for High Resolution Off Speed shooting. The Burano has In Body Image Stabalisation so even when using lenses without IS you can stabalise shots.
Codec wise the Burano has XOCN-LT and XAVC-H a new 8K codec. These are recorded to CF-Express Type B cards, a cost effective media compared to the AXS cards used by the Venice.
Cinema quality in a small package
The internal ND and the new sensor are fantastic. Highly recommend.
Excellent, minor quirks
Menu system takes some learning. Once dialled in, it is a superb tool.
Perfect for indie features
This is the camera I have been waiting for. Full-frame, 8K, and it does not break the bank.
Open box was a bargain
Mine arrived in perfect condition. Saved a lot versus new, and it performs flawlessly.
